"Beringer", by Beringer Estates, Napa Valley, California, 2011
- $38.75
- Color: Dark red-Purple
- Served with spaghetti Carbonara & a side salad
He says : 3.75 stars
- Smells of strawberry jam & red peppers
- Wine with a very strong body & dry, with a woody side, but tannins which have reached maturity
- Finish is very long, refreshing & well achieved
- Texture is syrupy & a reminder of satin
- Taste dominated by red fruit & oak, as well as red pepper, raspberries & slight sweet taste (chocolate)
- Cannot exactly be described as complex, but overall pretty well balanced
- Not my style, and a bit underwhelming for the price, but nonetheless a quality wine
She says : 3.75 stars
- To the nose, it reminds me of humidity, a wine cellar & the entrance to a forest. Also cherry aromas
- Wine with a strong body, a long finale and a high alcohol content (14.3%)
- Taste dominated by red fruit, and is very enveloping & syrupy
- Overall, a strong wine but pretty good
